Exploding Boxes

Ever wanted to know how to make exploding boxes?  These little boxes are the talk of the crafting community and are perfect for the Scrapbooker, cardmaker and papercrafter as it merges all these skills into one.

Tools Needed:                                   Scissors

                                                            Stylus/Bone Folder/Embossing tool


Materials Needed:                            3 - 12”x12” Sheets of Cardstock

                                                            1 – 8”x8” Sheet of Cardstock

                                                            Adhesive


Optional Materials to decorate: Patterned   Paper

                                                            Ribbon

                                                            Brads/eyelets

                                                            Stickers etc…

 
Instructions:


Take one 12”x12” sheet and score 4” in from each side you should end up with a cross of squares all measuring 4” cut out the 4 corners (the white sections in diagram) then fold – this is the outside of your box.
 

Cut the second sheet to measure 11”x11” and then score 3¾” in from each side and cut out the corners again as before.
 

Cut the third sheet to 10”x10” and score 3½ in from each side and cut out the corners as before.
 

Adhere the box together by sticking the centre of sheet two to sheet one. Now stick the centre of sheet three to sheet two.

 To make the lid – take your 8”x8” Cardstock (or if using 12”x12” cut sheet to measure 8”x8”) and score 1 7/8 in from each side.  Cut only one side of each corner and adhere together. exploding_boxes_2.jpg
